Congratulations!
You have chosen to begin one of the most important relationships of your life in being united as husband and wife. This is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, which has been ordained by God. Early in the Scriptures, we read God’s design was for a “man to leave his father and mother and be united to his wife”, as they “become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).
The wedding ceremony is a portrayal of the believer’s relationship with Christ. As the church is called the Bride of Christ and presented to Him spotless, having been cleansed through the blood of Christ which was shed on the cross, so the bride is presented to her Groom (Ephesians 5:27; Revelation 21:9). As the church is united with Christ for eternity, so the bride and groom are united together as long as they shall live.
